Ronkonkoma, NY, April 30, 2024 – VAI, a leading ERP software developer, and D&W Diesel, Inc., a Jasper Holdings Inc. company, have partnered to implement VAI Enterprise ERP software solutions to run core business functions in D&W Diesel’s operations. With 340 Associates and customers coast to coast, D&W is headquartered in New York, with branches in New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Colorado.
Founded in 1976 as a rebuilder of starters and alternators in a rented one bay garage in Auburn, New York, D&W has grown into an employee-owned national distributor and remanufacturer of diesel engine components, including fuel injection components, turbochargers, rotating electric, air compressors, and more. The company offers industrial air compressor systems from Gardner Denver and provides 24/7 field service. They also design, build, and install custom tank truck systems to load and unload liquid and dry bulk materials.
D&W was facing issues with their current homegrown ERP. The underlying software is based on a coding language that is no longer popular in the field of programming, and the extensive program interconnections needed to meet D&W's business needs have resulted in a more disjointed and needlessly complicated system. D&W's ERP also requires greater functionality in other domains, like product information management (PIM) and business intelligence (BI). Adding these features would be more expensive than switching to a new ERP solution, resulting in more fragmentation and complexity.
D&W's software requirements are influenced by four primary business categories: distribution, remanufacturing, industrial field service, and on-vehicle service. The company searched for an ERP that would include WMS, order entry, purchasing, accounting, PIM, reporting, business intelligence, and e-commerce, as well as business operations that are shared by the four business categories – and that would provide a modern, intuitive user experience across the board. Since D&W anticipated that it would be challenging to locate a system that would meet all the requirements of the business, the company also looked for an ERP that could integrate with packages made for their lower volume categories.
The company discovered VAI and its S2K ERP software solution that covers all the common business processes they were looking for. Further, VAI has experience with remanufacturing, including core management, which further addresses D&W Diesel’s business needs.
“It’s a bonus that VAI’s ERP solution S2K also offers a field service module that will handle both our field service operations, and with some modifications, our on-vehicle service operations" said Greg Wrona, President at D&W Diesel. “Their offering of unlimited users and the option to customize the software will support D&W’s future growth. Further, VAI’s team of talented and experienced employees were fantastic to work with throughout the evaluation process. We are excited to move to a system that is continuing to develop best-of-industry practices.”
D&W will be leveraging S2K Analytics and S2K Smart Center which they believe will provide the most transformative change. Their prior ERP had restricted reporting with no drill-through options. Deeper data research necessitated exporting data to Excel for manipulation from the ERP, which can take a long time. Tasks, alarms, and important metrics with drill-through capabilities will be visible at a new level thanks to the KPIs and role-based dashboards in VAI's Smart Center. With VAI Analytics, they will be able to create reports that are continuously customized to satisfy the more specific requirements of each of the company’s primary business divisions.
“We are excited to partner with D&W Diesel,” said Pete Zimmerman, North American Software Sales Manager at VAI. “We can personalize the VAI ERP suite to meet their exact needs. The depth of the software capabilities along with VAI’s integrated eCommerce with other applications will be of great value to D&W’s goals. VAI’s unlimited user licensing structure will also play an important role in D&W’s growth trajectory. We’re looking forward to rolling out the software at D&W and supporting them for years to come.”
